New Angels Public Address Announcer
You’ve been asking me and I’ve been mum, mostly because I didn’t know…until a few days ago, and even then it was not appropriate for me to comment until the Angels made an official announcement. On 3/12, the Angels front office revealed that LA Galaxy Public Address Announcer Michael Araujo will take over the microphone that the late David Courtney so expertly manned for so many years.
My involvement remains as it has been since 1996; back-up. It is not clear yet if Araujo will have conflicting dates with the Galaxy, and even whether conflicts will necessarily take him away from any particular Angels, so stay tuned on that.
From the official Angels release: Araujo, fluent in English and Spanish, has served as the PA announcer for Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Galaxy since 2002. A lifelong Angels fan who resides in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Araujo was one of three finalists who announced an Angels game at Tempe Diablo Stadium early in Spring Training.
Congrats and good luck to Michael!
