Finally! It’s On – Anaheim Ducks vs Los Angeles Kings

Phil Hulett News Leave a Comment

I’ve been waiting for this. I predicted it would happen this season. And, thanks to a historic comeback by the Kings, the battle for Southern California hockey bragging rights begins in Anaheim this Saturday. Who do you think is going to win? The Anaheim Ducks have the better win/loss record, but the post season erases all of that. The Kings come into Round two with momentum, but the Ducks are rested. I can’t wait. Here’s the game schedule: Game Date Venue Time (PDT) Television Radio 1 Saturday, May 3 Honda Center 5 p.m. NBCSN, TSN, RDS TBD 2 Monday, May 5 Honda Center 7 p.m. NBCSN, TSN, RDS TBD 3 Thursday, May 8 Staples Center 7 p.m. NBCSN, TSN, RDS TBD 4 Saturday, May 10 Staples Center TBD TBD TBD 5* Monday, May 12 Honda Center TBD TBD TBD 6* …

Anaheim Ducks in Historical Perspective

If you’ve been to Honda Center recently, and chances are you have – it’s been standing-room only during home games lately – you know it’s been nothing but excitement watching the 2013-14 Anaheim Ducks play. As much as I’d love for the team to win out the rest of the season, I can dig deep to find an ounce of reason that says they will eventually lose. But, while they are winning, let’s look how the current run stacks up against history. With last night’s (Jan. 13) win, the league-leading Ducks become the fifth team in NHL history to win 17+ games in an 18-game span (17-1-0). Anaheim is 9-0-0 at Honda Center and 8-1-0 on the road during the stretch, including a league-high seven-game winning streak overall. The Injury Parade Continues for the Anaheim Ducks

Columbus Blue Jackets forward Brandon Dubinsky has been cleared by the NHL after his punishing hit to the head of Anaheim Ducks centerman, Saku Koivu. Koivu was knocked unconscious after a hit by Dubinsky during the second period of Sunday’s game. Dubinsky received a game misconduct for the hit. Koivu is back in Anaheim where he is being evaluated for play.. But, Koivu is just the latest in a cavalcade of injured Ducks players: Fasth, Sbisa, Silfverberg, Belesky of note.  Is it “open season” on Ducks? Recently Dallas Stars player, Ryan Garbutt received a 5 game suspension for his knock-out hit to Dustin Penner.  I don’t know if there have been more vicious hits since the new rules were put into play, but it seems like it. Maybe we are just more aware of it now since the rules are …

Hockey Returns on Monday!

Phil Hulett News Leave a Comment

It seems like just a couple weeks ago my wife and I were vacationing in Los Osos, CA and watching the Stanley Cup Final on the hotel room TV. There’s been a little hockey between then and now, but does it seem to you like the off-season break went by in a snap this year? Hockey is here FOR REAL starting with a pre-season game Monday, September 16 between the Anaheim Ducks and the Phoenix Coyotes, and then another game the next night featuring the Ducks and Kings. I can’t wait to fire up the microphone and utter the first Anaheim Ducks Goooaaalll! By the way, I am still waiting to see if the team, and the league for that matter, wants me to say “Mighty Ducks Goooaaalll” on throw back night.  Stay tuned. Related articles Anaheim Ducks to Host …
